So a dude called Max Tannone has recently had some time on his hands and as a result he's produced Jaydiohead, a mashup of some Jay Z and Radiohead tracks. Comeback Kid (being fans of both Mr Carter and the lovely lads from Oxfordshire) decided to download it and have a little listen.Though reminiscent of Danger Mouse's amazing 2004 release The Grey Album (a mashup of Jay Z's The Black Album and The Beatles The White Album) it doesn't reach the brilliance and musicality of this earlier effort. Nor is the sampling and remixing process nearly as clever or as deconstructed but it's still fun.
That said, music is a bit like eating (no?) and Comeback Kid sure as hell doesn't want to eat the same meal everyday. So this is a refreshing update to some old and familiar tunes/I mean ingredients. Analogies are complicated.
